Do you love fashion and style? Would you like to run your own fashion boutique but don’t have the funds to invest in a brick-and-mortar storefront? Keep reading. I have a list of home-based business ideas for fashion lovers!
The direct sales industry has made it easier than ever to have your very own home-based business within the fashion industry. In my opinion, network marketing companies that sell women’s clothing are some of the best business opportunities out there. Not only do most women LOVE new clothes and accessories, but it is something that every woman needs, and that is regularly replaced and updated.
Plus, when you’re selling clothes through the direct sales model, items tend to have a higher price point, so your overall earnings are higher.
If you’ve been thinking about launching your own home-based business and you love fashion — here is a massive list of business ideas for fashion lovers!
List of Home-Based Business Ideas for Fashion Lovers
1. Cabi
Cabi was created in 2002 by 12 female founders. The brand sells high-end clothing, shoes, jewelry, and accessories ranging from $39 to $449. With the cabi business model, you can earn a 25-33% commission on all items you sell, plus an additional commission on team sales. The startup cost (your seasonal inventory) is $1,000-$2,500, which can be sold at the end of the season for an additional profit and new inventory.
According to this article by Fortune.com, cabi has an 85% retention rate, rather than the typical 20% in the direct selling business. Cabi also gives back to the community through their Heart of cabi Foundation. The cabi business opportunity is available to residents of the US, the UK, and Canada. To learn more about the cabi business opportunity, check out our full review here.

ZYIA Active sells premium fitness apparel and accessories for men and women. The starter kit is $295 (includes a $100 gift card), and Representatives earn 20-25% on personal sales, plus additional commission for when you build a team. ZYIA Active also offers product discounts, incentive trips, and rewards. The opportunity is available in the US, Canada, and Australia.
- ZYIA Active has a B rating with the Better Business Bureau.
Conclusion
As you can see, there are many direct sales clothing opportunities that allow you to work in the fashion industry. Which one is right for you? That will depend on your style, tastes, preferences, and the company’s pay structure and terms. You’ll also need to find out how you’re able to sell the company’s clothing line: in-home parties, online pop-ups, social media sites like Instagram and Facebook, and catalog and website sales. Be sure to weigh all the pros and cons when doing your research. I’ve seen many direct sales companies close their doors over the past couple of years, so talk to some current independent consultants to get a real-life overview of the company.
Do you know of any other clothing companies within the direct sales industry? Drop us a note; we’d love to hear from you!

When I try to check some of the company’s out that you Mentioned I get a lot of pop-ups which I don’t like can you stop that from happening because of me it means it’s a unsafe the block on to that
Holly Reisem Hanna
Hi Carrie,
I don’t have any control over pop-ups on other websites. If you’re talking about ads on my site, that is how I make money and how I can keep the content free for everyone. You can install a pop-up blocker so that ads and marketing messages aren’t shown.
Good luck!

I Hate People Spreading Misinformation Like The Truth
I just wanted to point something out to you… The BBB no longer holds the same value and respect that it used to. It is essentially glorified Yelp, that’s why the BBB itself was SUED! If you go to the BBB’s page for LuLaRoe you will see at the very top that LuLaRoe is not accredited by the BBB, that means that LuLaRoe has not PAID the BBB to receive their marking of being accredited. You’ll also see that LuLaRoe has 54% positive reviews to 43% negative reviews with 3% neutral reviews. If we took the reviews and converted them to a star rating like Amazon, making the positive reviews a 5 star rating, the negative reviews a 1 star rating, and the neutral reviews a 3 star rating, then LuLaRoe actually comes out with a 3.2 star rating… Go look up Apple’s BBB page, you’ll see there’s NO RATING… Why? Because Apple probably paid them to not allow the system to accept and log any complaints, or else they would probably also have an F rating with the way BBB’s system works. And yet, go look up how many customers complain about Apple online, or go look up how many lawsuits Apple has… This article is 2 years old, but it’s been in the same ball park number for YEARS… https://www.appleworld.today/blog/2015/8/6/apple-hangs-onto-its-title-as-the-most-sued-company
So using the BBB to justify slandering a company when in actuality all the BBB does is log reviews and has little more information about what the company is or isn’t than any other random person on the street is irresponsible, and only adds to the negative perception salty consultants are intentionally trying to create because they are upset about their lack of success, in fact the lawsuit being brought by those former consultants hasn’t even been sent to LuLaRoe’s corporate offices, yet those women are telling everyone they can about the lawsuit because they aren’t actually after legal justice (their lawsuit has no legs), they’re simply trying to ruin LuLaRoe because they are disgruntled, which is in fact hurting the women and families who are still consultants for them, and now you are piling on too.
Holly - The Work at Home Woman
I agree — the BBB is not the end all, be all, you should consider many factors when choosing a direct sales opportunity. BUT — LuLaRoe has numerous lawsuits against them! I PERSONALLY do NOT feel comfortable recommending this opportunity, hence why I have removed their links. You can still join and sell if that’s what you want to do. But I’m not going to recommend LuLaRoe to my audience as a reputable home business opportunity. And there was no slander in what I said — just facts!

Please, listen just a warning, stay away from LULAROE! They are not a good company to work for. They do not stand behind their clothing, the customer service is terrible, they will let anyone and everyone sell (trust me many should not be in this line of business). I have had nothing but trouble with this company, the consultants all have different policies, I am out hundreds of dollars and they ignore my emails, WILL NOT CALL BACK, give you the run around and are impossible to deal with. Please do your research. I am so fed up with this company, I am considering a lawsuit, I have filed complaints, and I am about to contact the news station. I am at the end of my rope here. I just don’t want to see other people treated the way I have been treated or get into a company that is so badly run.
Holly - The Work at Home Woman
Thanks for sharing your experience, Lisa. I’m going to reiterate what Lisa said — You need to do your due diligence before joining any business opportunity. Test out the products, talk to current and past consultants, and make sure you understand the commission breakdowns, monthly quotas, and marketing fees. For more tips on choosing the right company, check out this post: https://www.theworkathomewoman.com/home-party-business-plan/

We Sell Agnes & Dora and have found that the folks who run it are great to deal with. We are relatively new to online marketing and are thankful for the step by step guidance Agnes & Dora provide. If you are thinking about Starting a work at home business they aren’t inundated with an unrealistic amount of reps. One bit of advice, do research in picking your upline! For instance we would not be a good choice for an upline at this point as we are new and wouldn’t be able to help you like ours has helped us. Feel free to check us out at http://www.shopwithrobbin.com to get an Idea what the products look like etc…
Good Luck, Steve

This is a great. Here is another rising fashion company that women are having success with. It’s called Momma Pretty. Momma Pretty is a women fashion wholesale company. They have a membership fee of $33 per month and you can get access to women’s clothing at wholesale. There is no minimum startup cost. You can build your business as you grow. It’s the best Lularoe alternative.

My wife and I started selling with LuLaRoe the beginning of this year and it has really been a great ride so far. We have enjoyed having our own business, selling clothes, making money and making others happier about themselves. We highly recommend LuLaRoe if you have some prior business knowledge and experience running a retail business. http://lularoebygingersisters.com and http://roedoneright.com
Holly - The Work at Home Woman
Thanks for sharing your experience, Stanley. Has the LuLaRoe lawsuit had an impact on your business?
Cassidy
The owners of Lularoe explained this issue to its independent retailers. The LuLaRoe lawsuit is solely between the company and the people who are suing. As independent retailers, the lawsuit has nothing to do with us and I don’t think it’s effected our business (especially if we individually provide the customer service that we should). Lularoe has put new policies in place, known as the Happiness Policy, that guarantee satisfaction on faulty leggings sold within a specific timeframe. As for the F rating by the BBB, that is a reflection of the company, not the retailers. Many customers get frustrated when they cannot reach the main company, when they should in fact be contacting the retailers that they purchased from, as the company suggests. At least 9/10 times, and if the retailer has good customer service, the retailer will assist in any issues and exchange faulty problems, no questions asked.
Hope this helps :)

I have come across a few reps for a company called Honey & Lace but haven’t found any reps in my state of Indiana to find out more. I also didn’t see it here. Do you know anything about them? Love all the information on here. I am thinking of maybe doing a business but our area is so saturated with the LuLaRue reps and I don’t have that kind of capital right now. Thanks for any information on the Honey & Lace.
Holly - The Work at Home Woman
Hi Missy, They have a Facebook Page with a substantial following: https://www.facebook.com/honeyandlaceparties/
Here is their website: https://honeyandlace.com/office/honeyandlace
This is the first I’ve heard of them — but it seems with LuLaRoe’s success, new legging companies are popping up every day.
Kristen Dunham
Hey Missy! I’m not sure if you got your information you were looking for about honey and lace but I’m a consultant for them and I’d you have any questions or want any info about joining im happy to talk to you. Feel free to send me an email [email protected]

Zach - Ndulge
Hi Holly!
This is Zach from Ndulge. I was very excited to come across this resource page and see that our company was added to your wonderful list of work at home business opportunities! I noticed that the article mentions you could not locate much info about Ndulge. Please see below for some more information for you and theworkathomewoman.com viewers.
Mission: FASHION TAKING ACTION – Ndulge is leading the way in chic apparel with heart. Started by a group of sisters who are passionate about making a difference, Ndulge benefits those in need through every sale made from our clothing collections. Coast to coast, women are joining our sisterhood and selling Ndulge action wear to support our mission of giving. For every 3 pairs of leggings purchased, Ndulge gives back 1 pair to women in need. Ndulge’s main mission and purpose is to help the people who need help the most.
Opportunity: While we started off quite small in a few mall kiosks in Arizona and New Mexico, Ndulge has grown into a full scale direct selling business! Ndulge officially launched at the start of 2017 and we’re currently seeking key ambassadors to get in on the ground floor to help bring Ndulge to the next level!
Product Line: NDULGE ACTIONWEAR – Activewear (Great for Yoga and Being Active) – Soft Pile Leggings (Soft, Comfy, and Chic) – We are actively working to upgrade and add to our Ndulge selection, with new collections being released throughout the calendar year.
Compensation Plan: We know that upbeat and satisfied ambassadors are the key to success, so we designed our compensation plan with that in mind. Among competitors, Ndulge gives the most back to their ambassadors. Ndulge was founded on the idea of giving back, so raking in high company profits is not what we’re about. You’ll be feelin’ great about giving back, while making some serious cash along the way!
If anyone is interested in joining the Ndulge team, please reach out to us through any of the following platforms:

Thanks for compiling this list. I went and looked at Tuvous and realized it shut down in December. So sad to hear that, was really excited about the opportunity to do small Facebook shows.
Holly - The Work at Home Woman
Hi Sarah, Thanks for letting me know. With some of these other opportunities, you can do Facebook shows as well. That’s how LuLaRoe Consultants promote their businesses.
Camille J. Brown
What a great list of resources you’ve compiled! I’ve been invited to a few of these direct sales parties but wasn’t sure if I’d like the style being touted. Now I have an idea. I’ve saved your list for future reference!

Glad you enjoyed it, Camille!

Hello,

Please visit my website and contact me for more information. I am excited about getting you started with a phenomenal company.

patty Bartholomew
I love fashion and lularoe but the start up cost are so high to start the average person don’t have 5,000 dollars laying around. Is there any other option to help with these start up cost so the entire amount don’t have to be put up front or is there another company with lower cost and quality clothing?Customers love being able to shop these pop up boutiques and take their clothing home the same day as apossed to ordering from a catalog and having to wait for it.
Holly - The Work at Home Woman
Hi Patty, The threshold entry is high so it weeds out the people who might not be as serious about making it a business. There are some other companies that sell leggings that you can check out, or if you’re set on LuLaRoe you could take out a small business loan, use money from your savings, borrow money from family or friends, or you could take on a side gig to make the money that you need.
Kari

Have you thought about La Senorita Jolie, LuLaRoe, or Du North Designs? They all sell leggings.
The startup cost for La Senorita Jolie is $299. This June they offered readers of The Work at Home Woman a 25% discount on starter kits. You may contact them and see if they’ll still honor the discount: [email protected].
Right now Du North Designs is running a special for a $99 starter kit: https://dunorthdesigns.com/become-a-distributor/

Also Holly I have to say that you have the absolute best resource for this information on the internet. I found LSJ when it was still Winnie & Kat through this site and it has been great. You maintain the information on here so well. Thank you!
Holly - The Work at Home Woman
Thanks Tammy! I try to keep the information current. That’s awesome that you found LSJ via TWAHW! Thanks for letting us know that the sell plus sizes.
Tammy
Hi Stephanie,
The clothing line I rep offers a variety of sizes including many offerings for plus sizes. This is a constant conversation in our company. Many of us who show the line are also plus size and so are our clients so we offer a variety of sizes. I am always on the lookout for a clothing line who offers a variety of sizes, a reasonable price and also does not use sweat shop labor. So far La Senorita Jolie has fit those requirements. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Stephanie
Good morning. Thank you for this list, it is very helpful! I have sold for a direct sales jewelry company before, but am looking to see if there is a clothing company that specializes in plus-size fashion. Would you know of any that are specifically for plus-size? Or, I would be open to a company that sells misses as well as plus. I appreciate your help!
Holly - The Work at Home Woman
I don’t know of any right off hand, but I’ll be on the lookout. If I find anything new I’ll post it here, Stephanie.
Emily
I don’t sell it but am plus-sized and I LOVE LuLaRoe. Comfortable, modest clothing. I just had a pop-up boutique and many of my friends are plus-sized. It was amazing to see them try on clothes and look and feel beautiful. For many of them, (including myself) see trying on and buying clothes as a burden. It is hard to find things that fit right or look nice. LuLaRoe has the same style in virtually ALL sizes. The prints are fabulous and the patterns are to die for! Fabric is SUPER comfortable. I’m actually wearing one of their Maxi skirts as a dress right now!
Holly - The Work at Home Woman
Thanks for sharing your experience, Emily.

Hello,
I am wondering if there is a company that you can Sell from home or parties; which include matching clothes/ funny saying for Mom, Dad, and kids. I live an HR outside of a big City. However the local town, is a low income down. High End clothes may work in the City, however this down likes non-expensive, yet fun ideas. The leggings are not my idea of clothes not are they for my husband or son. If you are able to help that would be great. Something Newer.
Holly - The Work at Home Woman
Hi Brady, I don’t know of a direct sales company that sells those types of items, but new companies are popping up all the time. Have you considered selling t-shirts? This post explains how it works: https://www.theworkathomewoman.com/make-money-designing-tshirts/
